Main Additions

Introducing Industrial Sectors. Instead of having generic companies as it has been so far, now each industrial company belongs to one of 32 sectors (like Telecom, Software, Auto, etc). Each sector has its own list of projects and available names. This means, in practice, that different industries will have different characteristics, like capital intensity, time of development, growth rates, etc.

This addition will introduce several changes in the gameplay. For example:

  • Industrial companies only acquire companies in the same sector (for now).
  • CEOs only work within a given sector.
  • Market share (and antitrust regulations) is computed within a sector.
  • Due to long development times, some industries will need much bigger cash buffers to survive.
  • Working capital requirements vary across industries.
  • Etc.

All in all, this will introduce more flavor to the simulation and will be a primer for several coming additions (like industry-dependent events, commodity indices, and a more sophisticated simulation of the sectors and the economy).
